Therapy as a life-affirming practice:
a breath of fresh air and a space to create new possibilities
About Creative Therapeutic Space
Creative Therapeutic Space is an online and community-based counselling service offering mental health counselling, individual and couples therapy, community consultation, reflective supervision, and training.
Counselling services are provided through telehealth and online consultations, as well as in-person sessions - both in-clinic and in community-based settings where appropriate.
Creative Therapeutic Space is grounded in postmodern, relational, and collaborative therapeutic perspectives. The practice draws on narrative therapy, invitational and dialogical approaches, trauma-informed practice, and culturally situated ways of understanding people’s lives. Therapy attends to the relationships, language, identities, values, cultures, and broader social and political contexts that shape people’s experiences, while creating space to explore what matters to them and the possibilities they may wish to move towards.
The service offers a respectful, collaborative, and non-pathologising therapeutic environment where people’s lived experiences are approached with care, curiosity, and dignity. Rather than locating problems within individuals, the work pays attention to the relational, social, cultural, political, and historical contexts that shape people’s lives and the meanings they make of the predicaments they encounter.
The service gives careful attention to the unique and often complex ways people make sense of and respond to their experiences. These responses are understood not simply as symptoms or deficits, but often as skills, strategies, acts of care, expressions of resistance, and signs of persistence developed in the face of adversity. Within a safe and respectful therapeutic milieu, clients are invited and supported to explore personal agency, preferred values, internal fortitude, and the knowledges they have drawn upon to navigate mental health adversities, trauma, life difficulties, and relational challenges.

My SERVICES
My services bring together therapeutic practice, supervision, consultation and training, with a shared commitment to collaboration, reflection and respect for the complexity of people’s lives and contexts.
The work is responsive to what matters to the people, practitioners and organisations I work alongside, and to the directions they hope to explore.
Online consultations are available through telehealth. Limited in-clinic and community-based appointments are also available by prior arrangement.
Please contact me directly if you would like to enquire about an in-person appointment, or about any of the other services available through Creative Therapeutic Space.
Mental Health Therapy
I provide mental health therapy for individuals experiencing mental health adversities, emotional distress, trauma, anxiety, depression, and the ongoing effects of difficult life experiences. Sessions are available under a Mental Health Treatment Plan for eligible clients.
Individual Counselling
Within a reflective and supportive space, I offer individual counselling for people seeking to explore life difficulties, identity questions, grief and loss, life transitions, emotional challenges, relationship concerns, self-worth, personal agency, and preferred ways of living.
Couples Therapy
I offer couples therapy for partners who wish to explore relationship difficulties, communication styles and patterns, emotional disconnection, conflict, trust, intimacy, and the effects ongoing challenges on their relationships.
Working with Men
I offer therapeutic conversations with men who are seeking to reflect on their use of violence, coercion, control, or abusive behaviours in their relationships. Informed by invitational ethical practice and narrative therapy, this work invites men to consider the effects of their actions, reflect on the kind of person, partner, parent, or family member they would prefer to become, and take steps toward more respectful, accountable, safe and caring ways of relating.
Community Consultation
I offer community consultation in collaboration with agencies, services, and community organisations. This work may include reflective conversations, practice development, training and workshops, community-based initiatives, and collaborative projects that support shared knowledge, inclusion, and more meaningful ways of responding to the needs of individuals, families, practitioners, and communities.
Reflective Supervision
I offer collaborative and narratively informed supervision for practitioners, counsellors, social workers, and students who are seeking to explore, deepen, and expand their therapeutic landscape. Supervision is offered as a reflective and generative space where practitioners can think with their practice, explore the ethical and relational complexities that shape therapeutic work, and give careful attention to the values, commitments, and preferred ways of working that guide their engagement with clients and communities.
Tailored Organisational Training
I offer tailored training for organisations, teams and practitioners seeking to develop their therapeutic knowledge and practice.
Training can be developed around areas such as narrative therapy, trauma-informed practice and postmodern approaches to therapeutic work, with particular attention to culture, language, power and context. Each training is shaped in conversation with the organisation and can include theoretical ideas, practice examples, reflective conversations and experiential activities.
